What do you do?
I help people figure out what they want and how to get it; and how to solve job
problems, like having a bad boss, or worrying about being fired.
How does it work?
We meet in person or by phone; we do a career review, discuss problems, then
develop strategies. I often become the person's lifelong career coach.
What do I get out of it?
A path out of career hell with a knowledgable friend at your side. You realize
what will make you happy and what you're willing to do to get it. You do
all the work. I just clear away the cobwebs.
Do you do testing?
Some. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the Strong Interest Test, 16PF, other career
instruments. I rely more on my 20-year knowledge base of people, businesses and
institutions in weaving career solutions.
What are your qualifications?
I think my best skills are that (a) I know how people and systems work, and
(b) I can often see into people's hearts and know what they really want.
You can judge a career coach on four things: education, certification,
experience and relationships. Education. I have a Ph.D. in human and
organizational systems, a degree in business. Certifications. I'm a
certified career coach and trained as a
gestalt therapist. Experience. I've been a career coach for 15 years;
but have had jobs ranging from dental assistant to HR director at a
Fortune 100 company. Relationships. Because of my thousands of touch
points with clients and relationships with many communities, I can often
help you stagger through the fog of confusion to where the right people
might be.
The most important question people should ask me, though, is, "Can you help
me solve my problem?" Generally, I can.
Please let me know if I can help.
Rose Jonas, Ph.D.
